Passed away in Whanganui District Hospital on Monday evening 16 March 2026 with family by his bedside, aged 82 years.
Loved husband of Jennifer (Jenni) for 58 years.
Dearly loved dad & father-in-law of Craig & Julie ( Edinburgh, Scotland), Christopher, Caroline & Ignatius Black (Wellington), Marcus & Judy ( Edmonton Canada).
Much loved Pops of Oliver, Amelia & Theo, Alex, Catherine & Timothy.
Loved brother of Suzanne (Sue) & late Hapeta Gardner of Dunedin.
Brother-in-law of Eion Fredrickson.
Loved uncle.
Sincere thanks to the wonderful staff of ED and Surgical Ward, Whanganui District Hospital.
A huge & special thanks to special home carer, Cherae & staff of Home Care for the past 9 years.
Special sincere thanks to the committee and helpers of the Stroke Supporters Group, based at the Blind Centre for all their hard work and support always.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Bob’s life in the Forrest Lawn Chapel, 208 Guyton Street, Whanganui on Wednesday 25 March at 11.00am, followed by a private cremation.

Dear Jennifer and family,
Deepest love and sympathy to you all at this time….So very pleased all the children able to be in Whanganui to celebrate his life and farewell him..
I was blessed to see Bob and Jenni in Whanganui a few weeks ago. A time I will remember fondly.
Bob was very proud of all his children and their families and worked hard with Jenni to give them the best of educations
He was generous with his time and friendships with others.
Sincere thanks to Jenni and Christoper for the care of Bob in these last years.
To me he was a loved and respected brother
